Linkys explained

by , in
Arrrrrgggghhh!!!! Linkys! WTF are Linkys and how do I do one, do I do one? Do I join one? How do I link it, oh god the code and those dreaded four capital letters! Someone help!

That was the thought process I had every time I heard the word Linky. I heard the word a lot so I knew they were popular I just couldn't figure how I should join one. Even though they are really simple. I will try and explain it in as many simple steps as I can, just promise me you won't freak out, throw your laptop and hide in a corner like I did, when you read the word HTML. It's really very simple. Read on...

Apps I use for blogging

by , in
There are plenty of tools to help you promote your blog and your blog posts. Mobile phone apps or websites are a great help. Here I will detail which apps I use and what I use them for.

This is the second post in my #BlogLife series where I aim to help new bloggers with the knowledge I have picked up in the last several months. You can read the first post on which social media formats I use by clicking here.

Social Media and Blogging

by , in
Welcome to my very first #Bloglife post where I aim to a helping hand to any newbie bloggers out there. This post is all about which social media platforms I use to promote my blog posts. You can read what this series will be be about here.

I would say it is very hard if not almost impossible to get by in blogging without using social media. It is a great platform to get your blog "out there". It's how yo engage with people/companies and how they ultimately, find you! There isn't a single blogger I have found who doesn't use at least two forms of social media. In future posts I will explain how I use social media more thoroughly, this post is just to give you an idea of what I'm doing so far.

So, which ones do I use?

Bloglife - A series for newbies

by , in
A few weeks ago I was tweeted by Tash (click here to follow her on Twitter). She asked me and a few other bloggers to share our experiences of blogging. I felt this was a good opportunity to share what I've learnt and also write a little blogging series for newbie bloggers.

Stay at home parents - I salute you!

by , in
To all the stay at home parents out there, whether you're a SAHD or a SAHM, I salute you. Today is my wifes birthday but we cant celebrate like normal birthdays due to her being in hospital yesterday for pain injections in her back. She is on bed rest for 48 hours. You can see yesterdays post on this here

So, today I became a stay at home dad. This isn't an issue, I have had them before on my own but generally only for a couple of hours while Kerry goes out. When I'm off work we always do something together so it is both of us helping out so, I can say that I am not really used to having them on my own. I love my children more than anything but would I ever want to be a stay at home dad?

Hell no!

Why cant I take the pain

by , in
Today I spent 7 hours in the hospital with my wife. She was there to have a medial root block injection (6 in total) into her back, a nerve block injection that would disperse dye into her body which would help with the pain and also a few steroid injections to "pack" the space were two of her discs should be, they have crumbled away.

I really hate seeing her in pain, I wish I could take that pain on for her.

My Sunday Photo : A day out to Bridlington

by , in
This is my very first My Sunday Photo linky. After having Joseph off school this week with, in the doctors words with "the worst case of chicken pox" he'd seen we haven't ventured out of the house. With it now being almost 7 days since he got them and all the spots are now better we decided to take a trip 30 miles up the road to the seaside town of Bridlington.

Flamborough cliffs from Bridlington

It was a very exotic 13 degrees today, and at the coast as well. As always when you go to the seaside, we filled ourselves with chippy and ice cream! We also spent what feels like a million pounds on the 2p machines to win 3 lollies.

Do you pay for your childs school uniform?

by , in
All schools have to have a uniform. It's understandable, it shows all children to be the same and prevents children from getting bullied because they dress differently. That's fine and I agree that it should be the case. What I don't agree with is being told I have to buy their uniform!

Chicken Pox is here!

by , in
As you can tell by the title of this post, chicken pox as hit our household.

FML.

Our boy Joseph came out in them on Tuesday. They seem to double every time you look at him.

Needless to say, he is off school. As were 36 other kids in year 1 and reception the week before last! Joseph seems to be the last child to get them.

Is it fair to keep a child doing something they hate?

by , in
We all know that children go from loving something one second to hating something the next. Apart from chocolate, they always love chocolate. Oh, and making a mess, they never hate making a mess.

So is it fair to keep a child doing something they hate? Even if it is something essential?

For me, I'm talking about my son and his swimming lessons...

How much do you spend on presents for your child's school friends?

by , in
If you've read my last post on "Would you leave your child at his first party" you would know that Joseph is going to his first school friends party this weekend. It's a girl in his class and she will be turning 6.

WHAT THE HELL DO YOU BUY A 6-YEAR-OLD GIRL WHO ISN'T YOURS, FOR HER BIRTHDAY?!

Would you leave your five year old at his first party?

by , in
This weekend Joseph has been invited to his first school friends party. Joseph is in year one at school and is doing really well. He loves going to school and learning new things. What more can a parent ask for? He does, however, have a "must keep my shoes clean and ensure everyone else in my class keeps their shoes clean" fetish. His teachers love this, I just wish he could have a "let's tidy up all my shit after playing with it" fetish.

As I said, Joseph has his first party. It's at Hollywood bowl, which as you might have guessed, a bowling alley. You can eat there and also play video games. Joseph will love this, he loves all of those three things. Thankfully chicken nuggets are available, or so I'm led to believe.
